Don't hesitate to contact me! In an effort to save you time, here are answers to questions I am frequently asked.
Where are you located?
I live in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Our city has the most beautiful sunsets. (I've heard the sunrises are gorgeous, but I don't wake up that early.
Can I interview you for my podcast?
Sounds like fun! Full disclosure, when you invite me to speak, I rarely come alone.
Depending on the topic, I will probably bring one of my friends along. It's more better that way.
What is your new book about?
Jules and I wrote I Will Die On This Hill in an effort to build bridges between the Autistic community and non-Autistic parent community.
We hope to give parents, and anyone else who cares for Autistic children, a broader perspective of autism.
I Will Die On This Hill will be released in January 2023. You can pre-order it here.
Do you speak at conferences and large events?
Yes, of course! Contact me for your organization's specific needs. I am available virtually and in-person.
Full disclosure... When you invite me to present, I rarely show up alone. Depending on the topic, I will probably bring one of my friends along.
Just this year I presented with Tiffany Joseph for the Washington State Library. Jules Edwards and I keynoted for the AuSM State Conference.
Two presenters are way better than one, don't you think?
What qualifications do you have?
I am asked this question quite a bit! While I am a former elementary school teacher, my most valuable education comes from non-traditional sources.
Over the past five years, I have immersed myself in books and articles written by Autistic authors. In my own book club, I've interviewed dozens of Autistic authors and advocates.
Now I work with my Autistic colleagues to help schools and professionals create more accessible and inclusive environments.
Over the past couple years, I participated in my state's Partners in Policymaking Program. I also completed Communication for Education's program for supporting nonspeakers in their schooling, as well as Reach Every Voice's Accessible Academics Program.
Help me change the world.
